Job Overview:
As a Support Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to individuals who require assistance due to age, illness, or disability. Your primary responsibility will be to support clients in their daily activities, promoting their independence and enhancing their quality of life. This position requires a caring and dedicated individual who can work
collaboratively with a team and adapt to the unique needs of each client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care Assistance:
- Assist clients with daily personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support clients with mobility and transfers, ensuring their comfort and safety
- Health Monitoring:
- Monitor clients’ health and well-being, including vital signs, medication management, and adherence to health plans.
- Report any changes in clients’ conditions to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Emotional and Social Support:
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering meaningful relationships with clients.
- Encourage client participation in social activities and community engagement to promote socialization and mental well-being.
- Meal Preparation and Nutrition:
- Assist clients with meal preparation, nutritional planning, and feeding as needed, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Household Support:
- Help with light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, cleaning, and maintaining a safe living environment for clients.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and any relevant changes in the client’s condition or behaviour.
- Complete care plans and reports in collaboration with your team and supervisors
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with healthcare and support teams to deliver integrated care tailored to the individual needs of each client.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions as required.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- A high school diploma or equivalent. Relevant certification in health and social care is an advantage.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a care or support role is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with clients.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to providing excellent care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical capability to assist clients with mobility and personal needs
Working Conditions:
- Support Care Workers typically work in clients’ homes, assisted living facilities, or community settings. The role may require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
