Bid executives are responsible for overseeing the bids that companies put together for a new contract. It’s important to understand what a bid executive is and what the responsibilities of a bid manager are if you’re interested in this career. Bid executives work for employers across a range of industries, including engineering, construction and creative companies.
Responsibilities:
- identifying the best opportunities for bids among industry clients
- making decisions over which jobs are worth bidding for
- devising a successful bidding strategy that sells your company’s services and
persuades the client to choose you - researching and writing bid proposals
- working with bid writers and clients to obtain essential information in
preparation for making the bid - addressing risks of the project and demonstrating risk mitigation within the bid
- negotiating suppliers and contractors in preparation of the bid
- managing a bid budget and tracking the costs of each element of the bid
- researching the current and future market trends to ensure bids stay
contemporary - responding to clients’ and stakeholders’ questions and queries before, during
and after the bid - briefing the bid management team after a bid has been successful
